WEEK OF FEB 26th: Ven. William Gagnon
Venerable Brother William Gagnon cared for every victim of war who entered his hospital regardless of military affiliation. A missionary to Vietnam between 1952 and 1972, he is remembered as a true servant leader who loved Jesus and his fellow man.
Prayer for Venerable Brother William Gagnon’s intercession: Lord, Jesus, your mercy inspired the Venerable William Gagnon, O.H., to live hospitality with the ill, the refugees and the poor. Grant that we may always minister to all suffering people with charity, as did this son of St. John of God. Lord, hear the prayer that we address to you [personal intention] by the intercession of the Venerable William Gagnon, in order that we may be affirmed in our faith and that your glory and the joy of the Church be proclaimed. Venerable Félix Varela was a thought leader, professor, scholar, political leader, and cultural champion for immigrant families. Originally from Cuba, he served in Spain and in the United States as a pastoral luminary in every community he engaged.
Prayer for Venerable Félix Varela y Morales’s intercession -- Holy and righteous God, you created us in your image. Grant us grace to contend fearlessly against evil and make no peace with oppression. Help us, like your servant Venerable Felix Varela, to work for justice among people and nations, to the glory of your name, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. WEEK OF FEB 12TH: Bl. James Alfred Miller
Blessed James Miller, the second ever U.S.-born martyr, served as a missionary and educator to the poorest of the poor in Nicaragua and Guatemala. Shot to death in front of his students in 1982, his legacy of love lives on today through the many schools he started.

O Blessed Brother James Miller, you heard God’s call to become a Brother of the Christian Schools and so became a sign of faith to youth in the United States and in Central America. You placed your life and your trust in Divine Providence and, for spreading the faith, merited the crown of martyrdom. In a world that denies the dignity of the human person, obtain for us from Divine Providence an ever-increasing love of God and our neighbor, especially the poor and oppressed. Obtain for us also the favor we are now asking for [mention request] and the grace and strength to be a witness to Christ’s love to all. Amen.
Saturday (2/11) is our titular feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes! We will offer a solemn Mass at 8am that morning as well as dedicating the evening one to Our Lady. The Altar Society will be offering a gathering with coffee and donuts in the Activity Center Parish Hall (downstairs) after the 8am Mass and provide prayer cards in honor of the Blessed Mother. Those of us who have traveled there may share stories and even pictures of our time in Lourdes. All are welcome to join us!

WEEK OF FEB 5TH: Ven. Samuel Charles Mazzuchelli
Venerable Father Mazzuchelli was one of the fist Catholic missionaries to the Great Lakes region traveling the vast area via horseback, canoes, and on foot. He worked alongside new immigrant settlers and native tribes to establish over 24 Catholic communities.

Lord Jesus, you called your servant, Samuel, even in early youth, to leave home and all for a Dominican life of charity in preaching your holy gospel. You gave him abundant graces of Eucharistic love, devotion to your holy Mother of Sorrows, and a consuming zeal for souls. Grant, we beseech you, that his fervent love and labors for you may become more widely known, to a fruitful increase of your Mystical Body, to his exaltation and to our own constant growth in devoted love of you who with the Father and the Holy Spirit live and reign one God, world without end. Tomorrow (2/3) is the Feast of St. Blaise! Priests will be offering a blessing of the throats at our normal weekday Mass times of 6:30am, 8am, and 11:30am.
Fr. Derek will also be offering throat blessings at SPX at 12pm (NOON) tomorrow.
